This ones on colour with the first being a scientific look followed by a metaphysical perspective.
We live in an ocean of energy. A sea of oscillations and interactions. Light and colour are vibrations in this eternal play of energy. As with religions today, the ancients saw colour as an important part of ceremony and ritual. To understand colour it helps to have an understanding of light and energy. There are many forms of energy in the universe. One form, electromagnetic energy or radiation includes light and is known as the electromagnetic spectrum.
The spectrum is made up of many energy bands, which are measured as waves, or frequencies of cycles per second using the unit of hertz. Each form of energy vibrates or oscillates at different rates allowing us to measure and distinguish between them. A wave of high frequency has a short wavelength, while a wave of low frequency has a long wavelength.
The electromagnetic spectrum includes light, infrared as heat, radio waves and x-rays all oscillating at different frequencies. All of nature actually exists as a vast oscillatory spectrum, of which we are the observers and participants. For the most part light is the only energy form visible to the human eye. Sir Isaac Newton in the 17th century was the first person to prove experimentally that sunlight or white light was in fact made up the band of colours, which we know as the rainbow spectrum. The spectrum contains the 7 colours of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
These colours are perceived differently because they are travelling or vibrating at different frequencies. The warmer colours of red orange and yellow have a much shorter wavelength or higher frequency. While the cooler colours of blue indigo and violet have a much longer wavelength or lower frequency.
Colour shapes the form of everything we see. In fact Einstein said that all forms of matter are light waves are energy in motion. The body’s energy fields are changing due to the influence of the energy around us. Our thoughts and feelings can change our own energy field. Biofeedback research has shown that thoughts can change heart rate, the ability of the body to perceive pain and a host of other body/mind functions.
There are many phenomena yet to be explained by science concerning the movement of energy in a person’s body. All life is made in an aura or some energy field. People see such energy fields around the body which is in a constant state of flux changing in accord with ones emotions and feelings.
Studies from around the world show that specific colours affect the same stimuli and behavioural patterns in many of us. Orange and red have a stimulating effect, increasing blood pressure, pulse rate and perspiration, while blue is relaxing. Many colours such as pink have a quietening effect when viewed. Somehow the colours rays are directly affecting us. Even time seems to move faster in a blue or green room than a red or orange room.
Just as music inspires moods feelings and emotions, so do colours. From this we can conclude that the colours that we see, the colours we wear and the colours that surround us, influence our thoughts, our emotions and well-being. We can therefore use colour to balance the physical and spiritual aspects of our lives.
Music and colour have have long been associated. They are both simply the oscillation of energy. Interestingly light requires no physical medium to be transmitted whereas sound requires the oscillation of particles in space to move. So could sound and light be the same energy but transmitted differently or even just perceived differently by the human senses.
Pythagoras may have thought just this. His theory on colour and harmonic scale is fascinating. Pythagoras found that music has a mathematical foundation, developing the diatonic scale on which much of the world’s music is based. According to Pythagoras each artist composes around a particular dominant colour. He developed the idea of the music of the spheres where the whole cosmos became a dance of colour and music. The colour music correspondence is also used by Indians yogis in kundalini yoga.
We can now marry knowledge from western science and eastern science philosophy to create a fascinating insight into our bodies and relate this to colour. According to the eastern view, the seven energy centres in the body called chakras have their own vibration and associated colour. We can relate each of these chakras to an endocrine gland, or organ of the human body and a note of music.
RED — the first or root chakra; relating to physical drive, heat, stability and grounding and note C.
ORANGE — the second, the Sacral Chakra, relating to warmth, sexuality and pleasure, the lower abdominal area and note D.
YELLOW — the third, the Solar Plexus chakra relating to the stomach area, solar plexus and pancreas and note E.
GREEN — the fourth, the Heart Chakra relating to the heart and thymus gland and note F.
BLUE — the fifth, the Throat Chakra relating to the throat and thyroid gland and note E.
INDIGO — the sixth, the Third Eye Chakra relating to the pituitary and thalamus glands the third eye and note A.
VIOLET — the seventh, the Crown Chakra relating to the pineal gland and note B.
Just to elaborate a little on the endocrine glands — they are ductless glands, which secrete hormones directly into the bloodstream. They play a vital role in regulating growth, development and the function of certain tissues coordinating many of the metabolic processes within our bodies. There is still much scientific speculation as to some of the functions of the thalamus, pineal and pituitary glands. The pineal, often called the master gland, has been demonstrated to be sensitive to light, and therefore colour and many argue that the others are as well.
Again looking at the eastern view, the first 3 chakras are the Yang chakras relating to the masculine energy. The top three are the Yin chakras related to the feminine energy and the fourth or heart chakra is the bridge between this duality.
We can use colours for our own wellbeing just like many ancient civilisations. Visualising rays of colour will have physical and psychological results. For example if you are experiencing tiredness or lethargy, stop and calm yourself, take some slow deep breaths and visualise the colour red. Immerse yourself in deep red and breathe in this active colour. See the colour radiating from the base of your spine. Using such simple techniques one can alter behaviour, heal ones body and change thoughts.

Nicely written, terrific, thanks for creating and posting! ❤️
This was an insightful article. You had E as the tone for solar Plexus and the throat didn't you mean G for the throat as that note was left out of the sequence in the article. Otherwise I loved the article and all the information.
